Summary: | Measured nuclear quadrupole coupling constant values for A15 correlate to derived values of a parameter that measures the eccentricity of an oblate spheroid of charge density about an atom on a chain site. One of implications of this correlation, that the resistance to this shear distortion is an atomic property, is supported by another correlation between (cubic metals) and the electric quadupole polarizability for the free neutral atom.13 refs.--AA |
