On the role of solar Lyman alpha radiation in radio-wave absorption in the D-region
A common analysis of simultaneously measured homogeneous data on radio wave absorption, solar X-ray and Lymn alpha flux is presented, using the A3 absorption data mesured at 2775 kHz. The dependence of the absorption on both types of flux is shown, and parameters of the absorption equation are prese...

Summary: | A common analysis of simultaneously measured homogeneous data on radio wave absorption, solar X-ray and Lymn alpha flux is presented, using the A3 absorption data mesured at 2775 kHz. The dependence of the absorption on both types of flux is shown, and parameters of the absorption equation are presented. Optimum type equations and correlation coefficients for the corrected X-ray flux are calculated. The results display the dominant role of Lyman alpha radiation in the radio wave absorption in the D-region under nonflare conditions. The work of other authors is commented on. |
