Summary: | A 58-year-old, 85 kg man with coronary artery disease status post coronary artery bypass grafting, and insulin dependent diabetes mellitus complicated by diabetic nephropathy and end stage renal disease underwent a cadaveric renal transplantation. A Swan-Ganz catheter was placed which revealed normal cardiac output (7.3 l/min), low central venous pressure (1 mmHg) and low systemic vascular resistance (634 dynes/cm2). Here we report the successful use of hydroxocobalamin for treatment of vasodilatory shock in a post renal transplant patient in the ICU.Financial disclosures None.Declaration of competing interest This research did not receive any specific grant from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors. |
