Sulphide ion-selective electrode studies concerning Desulfovibrio species of sulphate-reducing bacteria
Experiments were carried out, using sulphide ion-selective electrodes, to investigate the effects of parameters such as redox poising agents, pH, inoculum size stimulators, the age of the starter culture, sulphur, source and inhibitors, on the growth of sulphate-reducing bacteria, particularly on De...

Summary: | Experiments were carried out, using sulphide ion-selective electrodes, to investigate the effects of parameters such as redox poising agents, pH, inoculum size stimulators, the age of the starter culture, sulphur, source and inhibitors, on the growth of sulphate-reducing bacteria, particularly on Desulfovibrio vulgaris. The results are compared to those for Desulfovibrio desulfuricans and Desulfovibrio gigas. The sulphide ion-selective electrode is concluded to be both useful and convenient for monitoring the growth of such bacteria and determining the role of various culture media parameters. |
