Description
Summary:Electrochemical Test Methods of the Protective Properties of Metals Coatings (Proc. Conf.), Fiera del Mare, Italy, Nov. 1981. An electrochemical method for the study of the corrosion protection afforded by primers containing inhibitor pigments which act by dissolving in the water taken up by the paint layer is described. The method consists in determining the charge transfer resistance from electrode impedance measurements of steel plates after their coatings have been carefully stripped. The results for various model paint systems are given and the charge transfer resistance increased in all cases after wet exposure as the inhibitory effect of the pigment developed during exposure.--B.G.M.
