Description
Summary:Methods are presented to derive crystal growth parameters, as the radius of critical nucleus, diffusion parameters and stress parameters from snap-shots of step patterns. Easy equations are obtained for rigid step shapes which are stationary in time, leading to quantitative interpretation of several common step patterns. In the case of non-stationary step shapes we were able to correlate computer simulations of step patterns with observations. We estimated the radius of the critical nucleus and Frank's radius on silicon carbide and the mean displacement of growth units on the surface of flux-grown garnet.
