Hot corrosion of an aligned co-based, TaC-Strengthened eutectic alloy
Study of the corrosion of Co/10Ni/10Cr/14 TaC directionally solidified in air at 900 C for various times. A solid state reaction leading to the formation of compound CoTa2O6 was ascertained. Specimens of this material were then coated with a thin layer of Na2SO4 and heated in air at 900 C. An entire...

Summary: | Study of the corrosion of Co/10Ni/10Cr/14 TaC directionally solidified in air at 900 C for various times. A solid state reaction leading to the formation of compound CoTa2O6 was ascertained. Specimens of this material were then coated with a thin layer of Na2SO4 and heated in air at 900 C. An entirely different hot corrosion pattern was observed and which was thought to result from localized reduction by S released from the fused salt. 17 refs. |
