Summary: | Various characteristics of a simulated tasseled cap (representing the spectral—temporal characteristics of wheat fields, as observed by the Landsat MSS sensors) are investigated as a function of the viewing and illumination geometry parameters, and atmospheric composition. Measured spectral reflectances of ten wheat fields in various growth stages and the satellite-level radiances, computed after taking into account all orders of scattering, are used in this investigation. It is shown that the procedure for normalizing the measured radiances by the cosine of the solar zenith angle is a less accurate approximation, and that the characteristics of the tasseled cap both in the greenness-brightness and yellowness-brightness hyperplanes are significantly affected by the geometric as well as the atmospheric parameters. |
