Investigation of spherulite growth rate and activation energy of cholesteryl nonanoate and cholesteryl decanoate mixtures

The crystallization process in the two-component system of cholesteryl nonanoate and cholesteryl decanoate was studied. The activation energy for the liquid crystals (smectic mesophases) to crystallize as spherulites was found to have a maximum at 60% of the nonanoate and was interpreted as due to o...

Description
Summary:The crystallization process in the two-component system of cholesteryl nonanoate and cholesteryl decanoate was studied. The activation energy for the liquid crystals (smectic mesophases) to crystallize as spherulites was found to have a maximum at 60% of the nonanoate and was interpreted as due to optimal molecular packing in the secondary nuclei.
