Study of Sintering and Magnetic Parameters of Spinel Lithium Ferrite II. Lithium Ferrite Containing Bi sub(2)O sub(3)

High-dispersity powders of spinel lithium ferrite, Li sub(0.5) Fe sub(2.5)O sub(4), containing different amounts of Bi sub(2)O sub(3) were prepared by thermal treatment of mixtures of /Fe sub(3)(HCOO) sub(6)(OH) sub(2)/HCOO.4H sub(2)O, LiHCOO.H sub(2)O and Bi(HCOO) sub(3) obtained by spray drying. Description
Summary:High-dispersity powders of spinel lithium ferrite, Li sub(0.5) Fe sub(2.5)O sub(4), containing different amounts of Bi sub(2)O sub(3) were prepared by thermal treatment of mixtures of /Fe sub(3)(HCOO) sub(6)(OH) sub(2)/HCOO.4H sub(2)O, LiHCOO.H sub(2)O and Bi(HCOO) sub(3) obtained by spray drying. It was found that sintering of lithium ferrite in the presence of Bi sub(2)O sub(3) leads to very high densities of the products at 900-1000 degree C. This is due to the formation, by Li sub(0.5)Fe sub(2.5)O sub(4) and Bi sub(2)O sub(3), of an easily melting eutectic.
