Description
Summary:The effects of satellite temperature, surface buoy, and marine data on objective analysis and limited-area forecast in the high-latitude North Atlantic and eastern Arctic are investigated. Four data sensitivity experiments were conducted using the regional objective analysis and forecast model; the objective analysis and forecast model are described. The influence of the lateral boundaries of the regional model on the forecast skill is examined. It is observed that the satellite temperature, surface buoy, and marine data reduce the forecast error, and the effect of the satellite temperature retrievals on the short-range forecasts is dependent on the synoptic conditions.
