Summary: | Acylboron compounds are emerging as versatile functional groups with applications in multiple research fields. Their synthesis, however, is still challenging and requires innovative methods. This Minireview provides an overview on the obstacles of acylboron synthesis and highlights notable advances within the last three years on new strategies to overcome the challenges posed by the formation of acyl–boron bonds.
Bring it on: The synthesis of the first acylboron was achieved in 2007, which started the exploration on the chemistry and properties of this exotic functional group. Since then, many different applications of acylborons were found, which led to the development of many synthetic methodologies. This Minireview focuses on the challenges and ingenious strategies various researchers have developed over the years to allow access to these versatile molecules. |
