Summary: | We investigated the feasibility of a semiautomatic approach for assessments of the fetal heart (fetal intelligent navigation echocardiography [FINE]) in cases of optimal and unfavorable fetal spine positions.
In this study, a total of 1693 spatiotemporal image correlation volumes of first-, second-, and third-trimester fetuses were evaluated by experts using the FINE approach. The data were analyzed regarding proper reconstruction of the diagnostic cardiac planes depending on the fetal spine position.
A total of 1531 volumes were included. The volumes were divided into 4 groups depending on the fetal spine position: 5-7 o'clock, 4 + 8 o'clock, 3 + 9 o'clock, and 2 + 10 o'clock. In total, 93.2% of the diagnostic planes were displayed properly. Between 5 and 7 o'clock, 94.9% of the diagnostic planes were displayed properly.
