Description
Summary:Calculative results of generalized oscillator strengths (GOS) and integrated cross sections for the electron-input excitation of the transitions 2p6(1S) - 2p5nl(1L), l = 0,l,2 in Na II are presented. The ten-electron system fo the Na II ion is represented by an independent-particle model. The potential for an electron in Na II is inserted into the radial Schroedinger equation which is solved numerically to obtain the wave functions for the single-particle states. The GOS are computed for various excitations from the 2p ground state. The results obtained are similar to those obtained for neon, to which Na II is isoelectronic. All the GOS have been parametrized with simple analytic forms to facilitate their application. The computed cross-sections for various excitations of the valence electron for incident electron energies ranging from threshold to 5 keV are displayed.
