Description
Summary:The objectives of this investigation are to clarify the effects of alloying elements on tensile strength and ductility of electron beam welded joint and to investigate the effect of specimen thickness on mechanical properties of electron beam welded joint. The materials used were electron beam melted Mo-C, Mo-Re-C, Mo-Nb-C and Mo-Hf-C. Carbon addition was effective up to 130 ppm and Re addition was quite effective for improving mechanical properties of welded joints. The strength and ductility of welded joints depended on specimen thickness and bead width to specimen thickness ratio.
