An experimental study of pulsating low pressure flames

The observation of oscillations in rich, light hydrocarbon-air and lean, heavy hydrocarbon-air low pressure flames is reported. Such oscillations are predicted by recent theoretical studies of the stability of laminar premixed flames. The observed oscillation frequencies range from 15 to 65 Hz.
