Summary:The eutectic temperatures in the metal-rich regions of several M-C systems have been measured employing an optical pyrometric method known as the spot technique. The measured values are for Ni-C, 1319 ± 2 °C; Ru-C, 1958 ±5 °C; Rh-C, 1674 ± 4 °C; Pd-C, 1510 ± 3 °C; Ir-C, >2200 °C; Pt-C, 1738 ± 4 °C; Si-C, 1401 ± 2 °C; Ti-C, 1620 ± 3 °C; Zr-C, 1854 ± 5 °C; V-C, 1610 ± 3 °C; and Mo-C, 2174 ± 6 °C. These data have been found to be more precise than those reported earlier.
