Summary: | Zircaloy-2 transformation temperatures have been studied by resistivity vs. temperatures measurements at 2 deg C/min, supplemented by metallography. Conclusions from these investigations include: (1) the beta region extends from approx 1000 deg C to liquidus; (2) the alpha region extends below 822 deg C on heating and 780 deg C on cooling; and (3) the temperature at which the Zr(Cr, Fe) sub 2 and Zr sub 2 (Ni, Fe) precipitates are formed during cooling at 2 deg C/min is T = 840 deg C. 9 ref.--AA |
