Summary: | Curcumin (diferuloylmethane) is a polyphenol compound extracted from the rhizome of the plant Curcuma longa. It has the feature of being a yellow or orange pigment with a variety of biological properties, including anti‐inflammation, antioxidation, anti‐tumor, anti‐bacteria, anti‐fungus, and wound healing. Previous studies have reported the role of curcumin in treating different inflammatory diseases and tumors in vitro and in vivo. Recently, it has been demonstrated that curcumin has therapeutic benefits in oral mucosal diseases, periodontal diseases, and mouth neoplasms. In this review, we will focus on the therapeutic effects of curcumin on oral diseases. |
