Amplification of tunable, picosecond pulses from a single-mode, short cavity dye laser

The design and performance of an Nd +3 :YAG pumped, short cavity dye laser-dye amplifier system is reported. This system produces narrow bandwidth, broadly tunable picosecond pulses with energies in the millijoule range.
