Summary: | At present low-voltage articles are made from porcelain bodies designed for high-voltage insulators whose firing temperature is 1320-1360C. Development of low-voltage porcelain bodies which could be fired at lower temperature included the introduction of glass cullet from a particular factory, which also ensured adequate electrical properties of the final product. Leaching of alkalis by water and its effect on slip pH and rheology were also considered at the production stage. 5 refs. |
