Phase relations in the samarium-poor SmCoFe system
The phase equilibria in the transition-metal-rich area of the ternary SmCoFe system have been investigated to determine the Fe solubility in those intermetallic phases occurring in the binary SmCo system. Complete miscibility of Co and Fe is found for the three phases Sm 2(Co, Fe) 17, Sm(Co, Fe)...

Summary: | The phase equilibria in the transition-metal-rich area of the ternary SmCoFe system have been investigated to determine the Fe solubility in those intermetallic phases occurring in the binary SmCo system. Complete miscibility of Co and Fe is found for the three phases Sm

17, Sm(Co, Fe)

3Co. No ternary phase forms. Computer calculations of the binary systems SmCo, SmFe and CoFe were carried out using all the thermodynamic and phase diagram data from the literature. On the basis of this description the ternary SmCoFe system was extrapolated and compared with our own experimental results. |
