Summary: | Abdominal X-ray revealed air-fluid levels, suggestive of small bowel obstruction (Figure 1). Laboratory results were significant for a mild elevation in creatinine. Patients usually do not have intestinal obstruction as bowel continuity is maintained; however, as in our case, bowel obstruction may occur as a concomitant feature. 5 Furthermore, the entrapped portion of the bowel is often anti-mesenteric and may rapidly develop gangrene due to limited blood supply. 3 Therefore, with a high index of suspicion, abdominal computed tomography and gastrointestinal imaging are recommended to minimize diagnostic delay as timely surgical intervention is crucial for reducing mortality.3,6 Declaration of Conflicting Interests The author(s) declared no potential conflicts of interest with respect to the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article. |
