Temperature-Dependent EXAFS Spectra of YBa sub 2 Cu sub 3 O sub 7-- delta . (Retroactive Coverage)

EXAFS data on YBa sub 2 Cu sub 3 O sub 7-- delta have been taken at four temperatures: 80, 112, 170, and 297K. Spectra from both the yttrium edge and Cu edge are analyzed for the mean distance to near neighbors and the mean square relative displacements, sigma exp 2 . The distances show small temper...

Description
Summary:EXAFS data on YBa sub 2 Cu sub 3 O sub 7-- delta have been taken at four temperatures: 80, 112, 170, and 297K. Spectra from both the yttrium edge and Cu edge are analyzed for the mean distance to near neighbors and the mean square relative displacements, sigma exp 2 . The distances show small temperature dependences. The sigma exp 2 s are unusual, decreasing more strongly at low temperature (112-80K) than at high temperature (300-170K). This could indicate some softening of the bond strengths and may indicate a phase transition. Spectra, Graphs. 9 ref.--AA
