Description
Summary:The anomalous electromagnetic wave propagation effects that are shown by meteorological data to be persistently present in some regions of the globe can affect the performance of such microwave systems as surveillance radars, communications and data links, navigation, and weapons-fire control. Using an effective earth's radius factor k of 4/3 will generate errors in many regions of the world. Microwaves that pass through anomalous propagation layers bend and change directions in ways that cannot be generalized by such a single k-value. (O.C.)
