Summary: | The Zn-coatings selection criteria are considered in the light of the Greater London Council's `Preambles to Bills of Quantities.' Specific instances illustrated and discussed include the corrosion behaviours, protection, and/or testing of metal ties linking the inner and outer brickwork in cavity-wall constructions, in-wall mild and stainless steel joint hangers, and galvanized or stainless steel fire-damper assemblies inhibiting the spread of smoke and fire along air-distribution ducts. H-embrittlement and cracking of a stainless steel spring in close proximity to a corroding Zn surface, and general requirements on the basis of the Council's experience, are also presented. 3 ref.--J.R. |
