Critical currents of 85 K Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O
We report critical current densities of pressed and sintered pellets of Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O measured by transport current and magnetometer. For a sample sintered at 860 °C, the critical current density inferred from the magnetization was 40 times greater than the measured transport current density. This r...

Summary: | We report critical current densities of pressed and sintered pellets of Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O measured by transport current and magnetometer. For a sample sintered at 860 °C, the critical current density inferred from the magnetization was 40 times greater than the measured transport current density. This result and comparisons with the magnetization of a crushed pellet indicate that the effects of granularity are as severe as in polycrystalline YBa
