Shrinkage and swelling of alkoxide silica gels on heating. II
F ions reduce or eliminate swelling by substitution of F- for OH- on the gel surface. Gels with higher low-temp. shrinkage are less vulnerable to swelling than gels with lower low-temp. shrinkage. For part I, see Ceram. Abstr., 1987, 66 [3-4] 66-03160A.
