Description
Summary:The level of extractables, crystallinity, unit-cell parameters and X-ray line-broadening information have been obtained for linear polyethylene crosslinked using VulCup R® in weight fractions ranging from 0.1 to 3.1%. Melting and crystallization studies have been carried out on the sol and gel fractions, as well as the unextracted crosslinked polymer. Melting and crystallization behaviour is dependent upon the level of extractables, crystallization temperature and crosslink density. The sol fraction is shown to influence the fraction of high-temperature-melting crystals, as well as their melting temperatures.
