Spectroscopic and laser characteristics of Er,Cr:YSGG

The spectroscopic and laser properties of crystal Er,Cr:YSGG are discussed and it is shown that excitation is efficiently transferred from chromium to erbium. Laser operations at 2796 nm are achieved with much lower thresholds than in other erbium-doped crystals.< >
