The interaction between rhodium and impurity atoms of s-p elements dissolved in palladium
The perturbed angular correlation measurements were performed with exp 99 Rh in dilute PdX (X = Cd, In, Sn, Sb) alloys and with exp 111 In in dilute Pd--Rh alloy. The Rh atoms attract cadmium, indium, Sn and Sb impurities and impurity pairs of Rh--Cd, Rh--In, Rh--Sn and Rh--Sb are formed in a Pd mat...

Summary: | The perturbed angular correlation measurements were performed with exp 99 Rh in dilute PdX (X = Cd, In, Sn, Sb) alloys and with exp 111 In in dilute Pd--Rh alloy. The Rh atoms attract cadmium, indium, Sn and Sb impurities and impurity pairs of Rh--Cd, Rh--In, Rh--Sn and Rh--Sb are formed in a Pd matrix. Their binding energy was derived from the impurity pair concentration measured as a function of temperature. The negative binding energy contradicts the repulsive interaction predicted for these impurities by the semi-empirical model developed in the literature. Graphs, spectra. 19 ref.--AA |
