Summary:The magnetic properties of the compounds R sub 2 Co sub 7 (R = Pr, Sm, Ho and Tb) and their hydrides with hydrogen concentration corresponding to beta and gamma phases are studied. Ferro to spin-glass magnetic transitions are found upon the beta hydride phase formation in Tb sub 2 Co sub 7 and Ho sub 2 Co sub 7 -ferri-magnetics. Strong reductions in exchange interactions and T sub c for R sub 2 Co sub 7 hydrides phases are observed.
