Description
Summary:Fluidized bed combustion of anthracite particles was studied using two different modes of operation: batch and continuous feeding of anthracite. Experimental results show that at low gas velocities combustion efficiency is high, even for fine particles which can elutriate easily, thus lowering combustion efficiency at higher gas velocities. Batch mode combustion of particles of a small size range was carried out to elucidate the effect of anthracite particle size on combustion efficiency. Combustion efficiency was found to be very sensitive to particle size. At critical particle size, terminal velocity is equal to superficial gas velocity in the combustor.
