Description
Summary:Studies of crystallization of glass in the Na sub 2 O--CaO--MgO--P sub 2 O sub 5 system under the presence of ammonia have indicated a different mechanism than that which occurs in air. Glass transition and crystallization temperatures are both lower than in air and different orthophosphates are formed. The reaction of ammonia by breaking of P--O--P bonds and the prevention of their reforming thus leading to formation of pyro- and orthophosphates are presented. Burning of exhaust gas from the experimental apparatus confirms the theory. Diffraction patterns, Graphs, Spectra. 18 ref.--J.C.J
