Crystallization of phosphate glasses of the 0.62Na2O-1.28CaO-1.1MgO-3P2O5 system under ammonia atmosphere at 600°C

Glass-ceramics in the CaO- and MgO-P2O5 systems are of great interest as biomaterials. When heated in ammonia the glass transition and the crystallisation temperature are decreased compared with heating in air. After heating at 600 C for 72 h the sample indicated calcium pyrophosphate but after long...

Description
Summary:Glass-ceramics in the CaO- and MgO-P2O5 systems are of great interest as biomaterials. When heated in ammonia the glass transition and the crystallisation temperature are decreased compared with heating in air. After heating at 600 C for 72 h the sample indicated calcium pyrophosphate but after longer heating the orthophosphate was identified. Crystallisation in a wet atmosphere was also investigated. 18 refs.
