Genotypic and Environmental Effects on Endopolyploidy in the Epidermal Tissues of Lolium perenne L. and Lolium multiflorum Lam

Summary: | C-value determinations on nuclei of the adaxial epidermal bulliform cells of leaves of perennial (Lolium perenne) and Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum) show considerable levels of endopolyploidy. L. multiflorum has more endopolyploidy than L. perenne, and there is an environmental effect which reduces the level of endopolyploidy in L. multiflorum as the temperature is raised. |
