Formation conditions of the (2223) phase in lead-substituted superconducting ceramics BiSrCaCuO

On the basis of systematic investigation we specify the thermal conditions leading to zero resistance at about 105K in ceramics of starting composition Bi 1.8Pb 0.2Sr 2Ca 2Cu 3O 10. Though the required T c is reproducibly obtained, the proportion of the (2223) phase never exceeds 20%. We have assign...

Description
Summary:On the basis of systematic investigation we specify the thermal conditions leading to zero resistance at about 105K in ceramics of starting composition Bi 1.8Pb 0.2Sr 2Ca 2Cu 3O 10. Though the required T c is reproducibly obtained, the proportion of the (2223) phase never exceeds 20%. We have assigned the diffraction lines of the latter phase and shown that it has long range order, in contrast with previous results.
