High Temperature Oxidation of Refractory Alloys in Isothermal and Cyclic Conditions

The oxidation of two different ferritic FeCrAl alloys (Fe--17.13Cr--1.847Al, Fe-20.49Cr-4.2Al) was studied, the first one stabilized with Ti and the second one containing small amounts of Ce and La. It was shown that the addition of rare earths metals was beneficial, particularly when cyclic oxidati...

Description
Summary:The oxidation of two different ferritic FeCrAl alloys (Fe--17.13Cr--1.847Al, Fe-20.49Cr-4.2Al) was studied, the first one stabilized with Ti and the second one containing small amounts of Ce and La. It was shown that the addition of rare earths metals was beneficial, particularly when cyclic oxidation was performed. A modification of the kinetic law is observed when the aggressive atmosphere is changed, although the grown scales are similar. , . 14 ref.--AA
