On correctness of the statistical determination of the fractal dimension using the slit islands method and fractal properties of the basic fracture surfaces
Measurements of fractal dimension D sub r on Armco iron and low-alloy high-strength steels using the slit islands method show that the values obtained by confluent analysis are more accurate than the results from regression analysis by a factor of four and differ from the latter by --0.5 to 0.7%. Summary: | Measurements of fractal dimension D sub r on Armco iron and low-alloy high-strength steels using the slit islands method show that the values obtained by confluent analysis are more accurate than the results from regression analysis by a factor of four and differ from the latter by --0.5 to 0.7%. The measured D sub r -values vary from 2.668-2.957 and can change within one type of fracture. Graphs. 6 ref.--B.C. |
