NMR study of fluoride ion and proton motion in N sub 2 H sub 5 Sn sub 3 F sub 7

Three different ionic motions are detected in N sub 2 H sub 5 Sn sub 3 F sub 7 by NMR at different temps.: proton rotation of the NH sub 3 group is predominant below 180 K; at 180-250 K, relaxation is dominated by the motion of the NH sub 2 part of the N sub 2 H sub 5 sup + ion; and above 250 K, a t...

Description
Summary:Three different ionic motions are detected in N sub 2 H sub 5 Sn sub 3 F sub 7 by NMR at different temps.: proton rotation of the NH sub 3 group is predominant below 180 K; at 180-250 K, relaxation is dominated by the motion of the NH sub 2 part of the N sub 2 H sub 5 sup + ion; and above 250 K, a translation of fluoride ions in the Sn sub 3 F sub 7 layers is detected. Both proton motions are confirmed by polarization conductivity measurements. Activation energy for the ionic conductivity is also determined. Based on experimental data, a superstructure for the compound is proposed with a long-range order of F atoms to explain the low mobility of F sup - ions.
