Description
Summary:The efficiency of large high-purity germanium detectors has been studied through Monte Carlo simulation for gamma rays from 0.5 MeV to 20 MeV. Broad-beam and point-source calculations have been carried out for two high-purity germanium detectors. The significant effects of geometric details are described, and a comparison of the Monte Carlo calculations to measurements is given. The comparison shows the need to include geometrical detail in calculations of detector efficiency.< >
