Study of the deactivation of a titanium catalytic system of the ziegler type

The effect of the Al:Ti ratio on the activity of the catalytic TiI 2Cl 2Al(iso-C 4H 9) 3 system has been studied for the polymerization of butadiene. From comparison of the kinetic data and the results of ESR spectroscopy it is concluded that deactivation of the catalyst for Al:Ti⩾3 is connected wi...

Description
Summary:The effect of the Al:Ti ratio on the activity of the catalytic TiI 2Cl 2Al(iso-C 4H 9) 3 system has been studied for the polymerization of butadiene. From comparison of the kinetic data and the results of ESR spectroscopy it is concluded that deactivation of the catalyst for Al:Ti⩾3 is connected with the reversible coordination of Al(iso-C 4H 9) 3 at the active centre accompanied by further reduction of titanium. The effect of postpolymerization ageing on the possibility of renewal of polymerization on introducing an additional quantity of monomer os considered.
