Summary: | Structural transformations and deformation processes in welding VS-4 steel were examined, with their effect on the mechanical properties and delayed fracture resistance of welded joints. The NS-4 steel was found to be characterised by high stability of the HAZ metal structure so that welding over a wide range of conditions and preheating temperatures makes it possible to produce welded joints with mechanical properties similar to those of the parent metal, with sufficiently high cold cracking resistance.
