The erosion of copper by reflected sandblasting grains

Experimental studies on the reflection of sand particles incident at near-grazing conditions on copper substrates are described. It is shown that such reflection can carry large fractions of the incident particle energy as evidenced by the considerable erosion which results from impingement of refle...

Description
Summary:Experimental studies on the reflection of sand particles incident at near-grazing conditions on copper substrates are described. It is shown that such reflection can carry large fractions of the incident particle energy as evidenced by the considerable erosion which results from impingement of reflected particles on receiving surfaces. Possible mechanisms to describe the energy and angular distributions of reflected particles are discussed.
