Comparative study of the martensitic transformations of titanium and the shape memory alloy CuZnAl

Description
Summary:Titanium is a metal well known for its orientation memory effect but it does not possess shape memory. In this study, the martensitic transformation of titanium has been studied in situ and in real time by synchrotron x-ray topography. The transformation has been compared to the thermoelastic transformation of the shape memory alloy CuZnAl. The pseudothermoelasticity of titanium has been displayed.
