Summary: | Prognosis in landscape ecology is a task of dealing with a complicated natural system, ill or imprecisely defined, interactive, yet slow-response, permanently, mostly implicitly, changing in time. To cope with this problem, we decided to build an expert system (ES) equipped with:
- the possibilities of using suitable exact models in precisely defined domains;
- the facilities to delegate the solved problem when outside the possibilities of exact models to the heuristic production rule experience-based ES;
- coping with uncertainty in its heuristic part: of a variable by its fuzzy definition and by weighting the variable; of a rule by weighting the rule;
- the extensive use of accumulated experience, expressed linguistically;
- the possibility of simulating response in slow-reacting systems. |
