Description
Summary:Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the common malignancies worldwide and the Wnt signaling pathway is recognized as the main disrupted pathway in this malignancy. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are recognized to contribute to the pathogenesis of CRC by triggering or impeding the Wnt signaling pathway. In addition, transcriptional regulation of miRNAs by canonical Wnt signaling also participates in CRC cell progression. In this review, we present comprehensive literature of the existing data on the interaction of miRNAs and Wnt signaling that could be useful in future studies in the field of CRC management. Highlights The Wnt/β‐catenin signaling plays a pivotal role in colorectal tumorigenesis. Dysregulation of miRNAs impairs the expression of tumor‐suppressive or oncogenic target genes, which is implicated in colorectal cancer pathogenesis. MiRNAs are involved in colorectal cancer progression by modulating the components of the Wnt signaling.
