Summary: | In the steel industry it seems time for a change in the policies that have concentrated steel production at just a few sites, resulting in the creation of giant integrated mills, which often lack the flexibility required to meet market fluctuations. Over the last two decades, considerable research has been carried out into different methods of production. It has led to the development of completely new processes which produce strip steel directly, thus avoiding the rolling stage. |
