Summary: | In order to study the phase equilibrium of copolymer solution, a differential thermal analysis instrument equipped with a laser, which allows the simultaneous measurement of thermal change via differential thermal analysis and optical property change via visible spectroscopy, was constructed. With this apparatus, the consolute temperatures of poly(styrene-ran-(butyl methacrylate)) having various styrene contents and its homopolymer/methyl ethyl ketone solutions were measured. From the results obtained, it was found that both the lower and upper critical solution temperatures exist in these systems. Graphs, Phase diagrams. 8 ref.--AA |
