Description
Summary:Hot casting pressure is the most critical operation when producing miniature and thin-walled products from steatite sitalls. The thermoplastic slip being used must have a low viscosity and high castability, and the grain size distribution must ensure a high packing factor. One way to control the slip properties is to treat it in a rotary type acoustic homogeniser, in which the slip is subjected to mechanical, acoustic and hydrodynamic effects. The effect of acoustic-hydrodynamic treatment on the properties of slips prepared using a glass powder with a specific surface of 0.7 m2/g was studied. The rheological properties (viscosity and shear stress) of slips prepared by different methods, and the flexural strength of semi-finished products was determined. Treatment in an acoustic GART-M apparatus decreased the viscosity of the slips and improved their resistance to layering. The casting properties of these slips are superior to propellor-stirred ones. There was an insignificant amount of pores in the product, and the strength was improved. Acoustic-hydrodynamic treatment was developed for producing miniature thin-walled components. 2 refs.
